PRIDDLE FAMILY HISTORY

PRIDDLE FAMILY OF CURRY MALLET, SOMERSET

A branch of the Priddle family flourished in the area around Curry Mallet, Somerset from the 1750's, descendants of George Priddle and Mary Westlake, who appear to have moved into the area from around Dowlish Wake (south-east of Ilminster, and closer to the main body of Priddles around Kingsbury Episcopi). Ron Priddle made a tentative connection between this line and the Tintinhull line, although there appears to be a gap in the descent. This line is ancestral to the Welsh branch of the Priddles via George Priddle (bap. 1777), who married Elizabeth Ceeley in 1803, and other branches later spread to Stoke St. Gregory, Fivehead, Bridgwater, Taunton, Dorchester (Dorset), and the USA (California and Chicago). An outline of the top of the tree and the connections of the various researchers is attached.
