HOCKEY FAMILY HISTORY

NOTES ON THE ORIGINS OF FRANCIS HOCKEY, BORN IN MONTACUTE IN 1857

Francis Hockey was born in Montacute on 17th July 1857, the son of Ann Hockey, with no father listed on his birth certificate. His marriage entry (28th August 1881, Stoke sub Hamdon) lists his father as John Hockey. No baptism for Francis has so far been found, and no suitable candidates for Ann or John appear to exist in the Montacute area in the 1850's. Any suggestions of possibilities are welcome.
