AYTON FAMILY HISTORY

This page is dedicated to the history of the branch of the Ayton family from Thirsk in North Yorkshire.

James Hayton was the illegitimate son of Ann Hayton, born in Ellerbeck and baptised in Osmotherley in 1831. By the date of the 1851 census he was living with his grandparents James and Ann Hayton in Thirsk, North Yorkshire, with James senior apparently born around 1776-77 in 'Walsall' Yorkshire, a currently unidentified location. James's descendants took the name Ayton and continued to flourish in the Thirsk area down to the present.

Anyone interested in further details of this branch of the Ayton family, or who is able to provide additional relevant material, is invited to contact the coordinator for this page Ian Hall.
